Our contact with customers normally follows these 5 steps:
You can either phone us on 01686 412 552 (or local rate 0845 456 1290) or send us an email on through our Contact Us page. Or if you want a solar water heating system you can also complete our quick online survey - Is solar right for you?.
With a few simple questions we can assess whether your property is suitable for solar water heating, a wood fuel boiler or a heat pump. Using this information we will give you a guideline price and recommendation for the type of equipment. We will send you information about us and the equipment we are recommending, and let you know about any grants that are available to you.
We work this way so that we don’t have to employ sales reps to drive all over the country undertaking unnecessary site surveys. This reduces the impact we have on the environment with vehicle usage, as well as keeping our costs down.
At this stage you are under no obligation to purchase a system from us, to sign any sort of agreement, or to part with any money.
At this stage you can apply for any grants that are available to you. We are fully accredited under the government’s Microgeneration Accreditation Scheme. This means that our customers are also eligible for grants from the Low Carbon Buildings Programme, and also any local government grants that may be available. See our Case Studies and Links page for links to grant giving bodies.
When you are ready, and only if you want, we will call in the next time we are in your area. This is not a sales visit. It is a technical visit from our engineer and Director, Chris Lord-Smith to discuss the installation with you and answer any queries you might have. During this visit he will assess your property to see if it is suitable for the wood boiler, solar water heating or heat pump and assess any health and safety issues ready for the installation by our team.
Using this information we can then confirm our initial estimate with a firm written quotation. We will hold this price for three months. You are still under no obligation and we will not use any high-pressure sales tactics to persuade you to buy a system from us.
We design the size of system to suit your needs. Proper design of a renewable heating system is crucial. If it is too large then energy will be wasted, as well as costing you more. If it is too small then the system will under-perform. We are one of the few companies in the UK specialising in renewable heating installations and have extensive experience in the design and installation. We also use the latest computer modeling software to ensure that a system is designed to meet the individual requirements of the situation.
If the quote is for a heat pump or wood boiler, we will also need to undertake a detailed survey of the building(s) to enable us to calculate accurately the heat loss using HHIC approved software (unless this can be provided by your heating engineer/architect). This will only be done once you decide to go ahead with the installation. This is not needed for solar water heating systems.
If you decide that you are interested in proceeding with the installation, and are happy with our price, we will then take you order to proceed.
We will then fix a date when it is convenient with you for us to carry out the work and book you in. We ask for a 25% deposit on the cost as estimated. This enables us to place your equipment on order.
Deposits are held in a secure client account until your solar water heating system has been installed. In the unlikely event that something happens to Llani Solar Ltd. your deposit is safe and can be refunded right up until the day of the installation.
You can cancel your order at any time but we would request at least 24 hours notice. Your deposit will be refunded in full, unless any items have been specially ordered for your installation. This specially ordered equipment will be charged at cost.
If you do not wish to proceed, or need to wait for a while until finances or your circumstances allow, then that is fine. If you want us to ring you back in a year or more we are happy to do so - we will never pressure you into a sale.
If in the meantime you need to replace your boiler, but you aren't yet ready to install solar panels, we can supply you with a solar-compatible hot-water cylinder. This means that when you are ready to go ahead, you won't need to replace your hot-water cylinder again.
Solar installations on existing houses normally take one day, unless the system calls for extensive plumbing work which may take two or three days. For solar on new build projects, the work will be scheduled to fit in with your building programme. Normally the panels are fitted to the roof first and we will coordinate with your roofers to ensure that smooth integration of the solar panels into the roofing. This is normally followed by a later visit to connect the panels to the hot water system and commission the system, when the internal plumbing work is ready.
Wood fuel boilers and heat pumps usually take less than a week to install. We will always consult you as to the best timescale for installation and if a new build project, we will try to fit in with your build schedule.
Our installation team will make every effort to minimise disruption to your home. If the installation takes longer than one day we will ensure, whenever possible, that we do not leave you without hot water overnight.
Once the installation is complete and the system commissioned, we will send you a final invoice. Once settled we send you a receipted invoice and completion certificate, to enable you to claim any grants you have applied for.
We conduct a satisfaction survey of all our customers two months after the installation to ensure that everything is working well and that they are happy with our service. We provide a full one year guarantee on our installations, and in the unlikely event of any problems with the installation we promise to return as soon as possible to fix them. We will not rest until you are fully satisfied with the system and our service.
The renewable heating systems we install are almost entirely self-maintaining requiring only periodic checks. We will notify you to let you know that it is time to check the system. For solar water heating systems that is every five years, when we will visit and check the system is functioning properly, that the antifreeze is at the correct concentration and will continue to protect your system. The heat pumps and log boilers do not need any servicing from us at all. Most pellet boilers need servicing every year, to clean the burner and make sure it is working at optimum efficiency. We will send you a reminder to let you know that the system is due for a check, which will be charged at the rate current at the time.
Llani Solar is one of the few independent companies in the UK that specialise in renewable heating systems, so you know that we are one of the few companies that can offer you the technical support and knowledge required.
We are confident that we install the best solar systems to the highest standards which will repay your investment with years of trouble-free service.
